Job Description
Fantastic Tertiary Hospital offers superb opportunities for research, training and career enhancement. We are looking for a Consultant in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry to join our team at Gold Coast, with teaching and research responsibilities and a dynamic leadership approach.
You will provide both inpatient and community based services and have extensive teaching and research responsibilities. You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following key attributes.
* Demonstrated ability to make a comprehensive psychiatric assessment and provide treatment for patients with serious mental illness and mental health problems.
* Ability to provide medical leadership in a multidisciplinary team.
* Demonstrated knowledge and skills in teaching, evaluation and research.
* Knowledge of, or ability to acquire knowledge of the National and State Mental Health policies and skills to assist in the clinical administration of the services, including determination of needs and implementation of policies.
* Excellent clinical variety.
This is a 700‑bed teaching hospital located in a metropolitan coastal location of Queensland serving a population of 500,000 people. The Mental Health Service consists of inpatient, outpatient, and community teams: 124 inpatient beds in total, including a 44‑bed psychiatric unit with an ICU sub‑unit, a 10‑bed acute young adult unit, an 8‑bed child and youth unit, a 16‑bed aged care unit, and a 59‑bed extended care, rehabilitation and psychogeriatric unit. Services include adult and child consultation/liaison services, an emergency psychiatric service, two adult and two child and adolescent community clinics, and a mobile intensive therapy team.

Registration as a medical practitioner and specialist psychiatrist (FRANZCP) with the Medical Board of Australia is required.
