The Opportunity
With a strong pipeline of exciting projects, our team is growing. We are seeking an intermediate-level Protection Engineer (Power) based in Melbourne to bolster our delivery capability to deliver renewables projects as well high voltage substation designs to an enviable list of transmission and distribution clients. This opportunity will allow you to be involved in major energy transition projects in Australia and New Zealand alongside a high performing team.
In This Role, The Key Responsibilities Include
* Protection & controls electrical design and protection settings of distribution, sub-transmission & transmission substations (up to 500 kV)
* Undertake fault studies as required to fulfil the above requirements utilising popular industry software packages
* Lead teams of engineers to undertake larger packages of work, including training and mentoring junior staff
* Provide Concept and Detailed design and review of protection schemes from high level R&I diagrams, detailed schematics, through to protection settings
* Maintaining expected current design standards as set by legislative requirements
* Carrying out quality checks and procedures
* Draw upon your own technical expertise, and those of the broader team to deliver high-quality technical advice to our client
* Contribute and drive delivery excellence across the Power team

What We'll Like About You
Your design engineering skills are based on solid fundamentals and have been proven through the delivery of power engineering projects. You are experienced and have a passion for coaching and mentoring emerging engineers.
As a Protection & Controls Engineer, you will be responsible for the electrical design and protection settings of distribution, sub-transmission, and transmission substations (up to 500 kV), including conducting fault studies using industry-standard software. You will lead teams of engineers on larger work packages, providing training and mentoring to junior staff while delivering concept and detailed designs, reviewing protection schemes from high-level R&I diagrams to detailed schematics and protection settings. Your role will involve maintaining compliance with current legislative design standards, performing quality checks, and drawing upon your technical expertise—and that of the broader team—to deliver high-quality technical advice to clients. Additionally, you will contribute to and drive delivery excellence across the Power team.
Any consultancy experience is advantageous but not essential. We are looking for an engineer who along with the above skills, will further enhance our team culture.
