This is a permanent position in Cane Supply and Transport which requires shift work during the crushing season (June – December), including weekends and overtime, and day work during the maintenance period (Jan – May).
Responsibilities
* Ensure Continuous Cane Supply: Manage train schedules and operations to maintain a steady and reliable flow of sugar cane to the mill, supporting uninterrupted production.
* Coordination of Train Movement: Oversee the safe and efficient movement of trains on the Proserpine Region railway networks, adjusting loco schedules as needed.
* Real‐Time Digital Monitoring: Use advanced control systems with real‐time GPS and automation tools to monitor and manage train movements, ensuring accurate scheduling and avoiding delays.
* Data‐Driven Decision Making: Apply big data analytics to predict issues, optimise schedules, and adjust operations based on real‐time conditions, enhancing overall efficiency. Monitor and manage team performance.
* Smart Safety Systems: Implement technologies to monitor rail infrastructure and train conditions, ensuring safety and immediate alerts for any abnormalities.
* Personnel Supervision and Training: Supervise staff, manage associated administration, and coordinate on‐the‐job training for loco crews, ensuring adherence to quality control standards and efficient record‐keeping.
* Advanced Communication: Utilise cloud‐based platforms and mobile apps for seamless communication with train drivers, production teams, and logistics managers; as well as growers and contractors regarding bin allocations and harvesting information and outside organisations.
* Digital Twin Technology: Employ virtual simulation tools to model and predict operational scenarios, refining control strategies in a risk‐free environment.
The Successful Candidate
To thrive in this role, you'll need a solid understanding of cane supply and transport operations, a commitment to safety for yourself and your team, and great communication skills to keep everyone in the loop. You'll be tech‐savvy, able to provide accurate performance updates, and adaptable to change as we continually evolve. Plus, an intermediate level of computer skills and a manual 'C' class driver's licence are essential.
