Sakar is a commercial construction company running well-organised, professional sites across metro Adelaide. Our teams are stable, our trades are experienced, and our apprentices are here to learn properly. We back each other on site, and there's a strong sense that quality work is the baseline, not the goal.
We're not chasing short stints. We're building long-term careers. The sites are detail-driven and well coordinated, run by experienced leading hands who keep things moving at a steady pace rather than a frantic one. When something needs attention, it gets talked through and sorted. That's why the days feel manageable and why most people stay.
As your skills and leadership grow, there's room to step into roles such as Senior Carpenter, Leading Hand or Supervisor, with consistent hours and continuity across projects.
What we offer:
* Pay between $36–$52 per hour, aligned to experience, capability and responsibility
* Permanent full‐time employment with an immediate start
* Consistent hours, with overtime available when it makes sense
* Clear support for training and career development
* Company uniform supplied
* Quarterly team days and incentives that recognise contribution
* A team culture built on mutual respect that's easy to be part of
Role Description
This role is a good fit for carpenters who care about how their work holds up, not just how fast it gets done. You'll be part of a stable crew delivering commercial carpentry across a mix of short and long‐running sites, with the time and structure to do the work properly. Carpenters here are trusted to lean into the type of work they do best, whether that's first fix, second fix, or detail‐critical finishes.
Depending on your strengths and interests, the work may include:
* First and second fix commercial carpentry
* Door frames, doors and hardware
* Skirting, architraves and linings
* Cladding and linings
* Joinery and solid timber work
A standard day: you arrive on site knowing where you'll be working, who you're working with, and what needs to get done. The site's set up properly, the leading hand has a plan, and the drawings make sense. You get into the work you're good at, where doing it right the first time is the norm. Questions get answered, problems get talked through, and if someone needs a hand, someone steps in. You knock off knowing the work's solid, the team's got your back, and you'll be back on the same site tomorrow.
Qualifications
We're looking for someone who:
* Is a trade‐qualified carpenter
* Holds a Construction Induction White Card
* Has a current licence and reliable transport
* Is skilled at reading and interpreting plans and drawings
* Thinks ahead, solves problems as they come up, and doesn't wait to be told every next step
* Communicates clearly on site and gets along with a wide range of people
* Takes pride in turning out work you're happy to put your name to
* Shows up on time, follows through, and can be relied on by the rest of the crew
* Understands Workplace Health & Safety on commercial sites and takes that responsibility seriously
* Is comfortable working independently when needed, and just as comfortable backing up the team
* Has experience in commercial construction (advantageous but not essential)
If you're a qualified carpenter who knows their way around commercial sites, can read drawings without squinting, backs your teammates and can hold your own whether you're working solo or as part of the crew, we want to hear from you. If you've got commercial experience, great. If you're building toward it, we're open to that too.
