Due to our organic and acquisitional growth, we are seeking a Senior Infrastructure Engineer in Sydney to join our IS team!
Key responsibilities
* Act as a senior technical resource within the Systems Engineering team, providing escalation support for complex infrastructure issues
* Support the integration, stabilization, and ongoing operation of infrastructure across newly acquired businesses, covering both on-premises and cloud environments
* Ensure the day-to-day reliability, performance, and security of global server, storage, and networking environments
* Contribute to infrastructure migrations, consolidations, and modernization initiatives across diverse and often legacy technology stacks
* Perform advanced system administration and troubleshooting across Windows and Linux platforms in both virtualized and cloud-hosted environments
* Monitor infrastructure health, respond to alerts and incidents, and assist with root cause analysis and long-term remediation
* Act as an escalation point for complex production issues and major incidents
* Support the implementation and improvement of backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity solutions
* Work closely with security teams to ensure infrastructure aligns with security standards, including vulnerability remediation, patching, hardening, and access control
* Contribute to the development of infrastructure standards, technical documentation, and operational procedures
* Maintain clear and accurate technical documentation for integrated and newly deployed systems
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams (networking, security, cloud, application, and acquisitions teams) to deliver secure, stable, and scalable platforms
The ideal candidate will have the following essential skills
* 5+ years of experience in infrastructure, cloud, or systems engineering roles, with experience operating as a senior technical resource
* Strong hands-on experience with cloud platforms (e.g. Azure and/or AWS), including core services such as compute, networking, storage, identity, and monitoring
* Experience supporting infrastructure in complex, multi-environment landscapes, ideally including acquired or inherited environments
* Strong experience with virtualized environments (e.g. VMware, Hyper-V, or cloud-native virtualization)
* Solid understanding of cloud and hybrid networking, including VPNs, routing, segmentation, DNS, and firewalls
* Strong understanding of core networking protocols and services such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and routing concepts
* Advanced Linux administration experience in production environments (essential)
* Strong Windows Server administration skills (2016 and later), including Active Directory and Group Policy
* Experience with backup, disaster recovery, and high availability solutions in cloud or virtualized environments
* Exposure to containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes
* Strong scripting and automation skills (e.g. PowerShell, Bash, Python)
