Light & Wonder builds cutting-edge technology, products, and content for iconic casinos and operators across the globe.Position SummaryWe now seek a highly experienced Game Designer to assist in the creation and development of poker machine (slot) games.About the RoleThe Game Designer assists in the creation and development of poker machine (slot) games, including contributing ideas for initial concepts, the design of the mathematical model used in the poker machine game, performing payback calculations, and running simulations to verify the correctness of those calculations.
The person in this position will also primarily be responsible for creating required submission documents for gaming regulatory bodies.ResponsibilitiesAssist in the creation of concepts for new poker machine games that maximize player appeal and game performance.Assist in the design of fun, innovative math models.Responsible for all math model calculations for assigned games, including base game/free games, bonus features, and all payback percentages, hit frequencies, standard deviations, and other metrics as appropriate.Create programming tools to verify math models and analyze game play characteristics.Prepare Excel spreadsheets for regulatory submission, adhering to company standards for formatting and mathematical methods.Review calculations of other Game Designers prior to regulatory submission, ensuring correctness and adherence to standards.Develop new and improve existing mathematical methods.Work with regulatory agencies as needed to address and resolve math-related compliance issues.Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesProficiency in mathematics, especially probability and statistics.Proficiency in Excel, including linking and formulas to dynamically calculate probabilities and describe complicated probabilistic events.Curiosity, creativity, and high personal integrity.Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail and accuracy.Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), especially the ability to convey complex mathematical concepts to non-specialists.Ability to work well in a team environment.Knowledge of the industry is desirable.Intermediate programming skills in C++, C#, Python, Unity, or related languages is desirable.EducationBachelor's degree with a strong mathematical component, emphasizing probability and statistics, or equivalent experience.Working ConditionsThe work conditions are representative and typical of similar jobs in comparable organizations.Workplace Health & SafetyActively cooperate and comply with the company's WHS Policy and Program to ensure health and safety of self and others in the workplace.Ensure compliance with safe work practices.Ensure not to put self and others at risk.Use and maintain equipment properly and keep the work area free of hazards.Report all incidents, injuries and near misses.Report any hazard or accident to the supervisor or manager as soon as it becomes apparent.Inform your manager if you do not believe you have the skills, training or equipment to safely perform duties.Our ValuesWe uphold IntegrityWe never SettleWe celebrate PerspectivesWe dare to be BoldWin as a TeamLight & Wonder and its affiliates are engaged in highly regulated gaming and lottery businesses.
