The key duties of the position include The Role The EL 1 Systems Safety Manager works directly in support of the Chief Engineer (CENGR) Military Type Certificate Holder (MTCH) as the subject matter expert (SME) to support the E-7A Wedgetail. Their primary tasks contain, but are not limited to: Work with Boeing Defence Australia (BDA) and Air Force to support Defence Aviation Safety Regulations (DASR) Safety Management System (SMS) development and decision making; Evaluate safety management data to inform planning, decision-making, priority setting, and implementation; Oversee governance and assurance of E-7A DASR SMS; Supporting Risk Assessment reviews; Retained Risk Review; Military Permit To Fly; Occurrence Reports; and Airworthiness Directives; Ensure safety aspects of Defence materiel systems are considered and incorporated into Aerospace engineering activities; Attend Airborne Surveillance Control and Intelligence Systems Program Office (ASCISPO) Joint Management Framework Safety meetings. Review hazard analysis to ensure they meet with the requirements and legislative, policy and regulatory frameworks; Provide Certificate of Airworthiness (CoA) system safety advice to the Military Type Certificate Holder. Represent ASCISPO at the Surveillance Response Group (SRG) / Aviation Hazard Review Board (AHARB) and other safety forums; Perform in accordance with EL1 Duty Statement; support the MTCH; monitor System Safety Programs; and DASR SMS. Part of Defence's capability delivery agency, our integrated team includes Australian Public Servants, Defence personnel, and industry experts, primarily based at Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) Base Williamtown, NSW, with a small presence in the United States of America (USA).
