Xzibit is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Apprentice Shopfitter to join our dynamic team. This is an exciting opportunity to learn and develop essential skills, working on unique and high-quality projects where you will assist experienced tradespeople across temporary and permanent exhibitions. The ideal candidate will be eager to learn, possess a strong work ethic, and have a genuine interest in hands-on craftsmanship.
Responsibilities:
* Fabrication and Preparation:
o Assist in the preparation of materials, including cutting, shaping, and assembling components.
o Learn to use a variety of hand and power tools safely and effectively.
* Site Preparation and Cleanup:
o Assist in the preparation of work sites, including protecting surfaces and ensuring a safe working environment.
o Maintain a clean and organised work area throughout the project.
o Assist in the cleanup and removal of debris upon project completion.
* Material Handling and Storage:
o Assist in the loading, unloading, and transportation of materials.
o Ensure proper storage and handling of materials to prevent damage.
o Assist in the fabrication of custom elements, as required.
* Assist with Installation:
o Assist in the installation of shopfitting components, including cabinetry, partitions, ceilings, flooring, and fixtures, according to plans and specifications.
o Learn to interpret and follow technical drawings and plans.
o Assist in the accurate measurement and marking of materials.
* Safety Compliance:
o Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies.
o Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
o Participate in safety meetings and training sessions.
* Learning and Development:
o Actively participate in on-the-job training and formal apprenticeship program.
o Seek opportunities to learn new skills and techniques.
o Maintain a logbook of training and work experience.
o Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications:
* Essential:
o Genuine interest in shopfitting, carpentry & joinery trades.
o Strong work ethic and a positive attitude.
o Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
o Basic understanding of hand and power tools (or willingness to learn).
o Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting and carrying heavy objects.
o Certificate 1 in Construction (White Card)
o Valid drivers license, or reliable transportation.
