About the role
The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Partnerships Director is a senior leadership role within the Commercial and Partnerships Group. Working closely with the Group Executive, Commercial and Partnerships, you will lead initiatives that grow Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander tourism experiences, businesses and events across Queensland, provide strategic advice to the TEQ Board (including the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Committee), CEO and Executive Team, and build and maintain trusted relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander stakeholders, industry and government partners. You will also oversee programs and grants that strengthen cultural, economic and social outcomes, implement relevant Government strategies and Tourism Action Plans, and lead a high-performing team while managing budgets and delivering measurable outcomes.
This is a highly influential, externally facing role representing TEQ across senior government and industry forums at State, Federal and Regional levels.

About you
TEQ is seeking an experienced and respected Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander leader with strong cultural authority and demonstrated capability to operate at a senior strategic level. You will bring lived experience along with senior leadership experience within tourism, events, economic development or a related complex stakeholder environment. You will have a proven track record of building and maintaining trusted partnerships across government, industry and community, as well as strong strategic, analytical and planning capability, with the ability to translate data and policy into actionable initiatives. In addition, you will demonstrate financial, program and people leadership experience, including managing competing priorities and delivering outcomes, together with exceptional written and verbal communication skills and the ability to engage diverse audiences with authenticity and influence.
Key Selection Criteria
* Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander identity, with lived-experience knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, histories and aspirations.
* Proven experience operating at a senior leadership level within tourism, events, economic development or a similarly complex environment.
* A strong track record of navigating complex stakeholder environments to achieve shared outcomes.
* Experience designing, implementing and overseeing programs, initiatives or action plans that strengthen Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander participation, business development, tourism experience growth or economic outcomes.
* Demonstrated experience providing high-level strategic advice, briefings and reports to Boards, CEOs or Executive teams.
* Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing teams, manage budgets and resources, oversee grant or program funding, and deliver measurable outcomes aligned to strategic objectives.
