The National Asset Manager is responsible for maturing the Bureau's asset management capability in line with industry best practice using established standards, frameworks and tools. They manage a team of asset management professionals to provide leadership and advice across the organisation's significant asset base, including observing network instrumentation, property and facilities, ICT, software and intangible assets.
The National Asset Manager is responsible for defining the Bureau's asset management policies, practices and standards, and the ongoing review and refinement of asset replacement and investment plans, sustainment planning, and the long-term strategic management of assets within the organisation.
This position is also the business owner of the Enterprise Asset Management System (EAMS) and plays a significant role in the ongoing uplift and acceptance of the system.
The initial focus of this position has been the Bureau's observing network assets portfolio. This includes, but is not limited to Radars, Automatic Weather Stations, Tsunami Buoys, Rain Gauges and Flood warning equipment which are distributed across 12,500 sites across all states and territories of Australia. Further expansion and implementation of asset management practices across other business areas is required. As a member of the Observing Systems and Operations Leadership team, the National Asset Manager is a key leadership position with influence across the organisation.
