The School

Henley Brook Primary School (PS) opened in January 2024 with approximately 200 students from within the rapidly growing suburbs of Brabham and Henley Brook (located in the Swan Valley, near Whiteman Park). For 2026, it is anticipated that we will grow to around 450 students. At the heart of our school, is our motto; Connect, Belong Thrive, because when students feel connected to their teachers, and parents feel a connection with the school, students are best positioned to thrive.

In partnership with families, our goal is for all students to make year on year growth. We provide innovative and engaging learning experiences, which promote individual excellence and develop social responsibility. We aim to support the social, emotional, and academic growth of each student through evidence-based practices, supportive learning environments and a strong pastoral care approach focused on student well-being. Classrooms at Henley Brook PS are calm, appealing and welcoming, promoting a positive classroom tone.

Teachers at Henley Brook PS embrace a culturally inclusive curriculum that reflects the cultural, linguistic, and religious diversity of our school community. Staff will receive ongoing training and support to ensure a continued focus on culturally inclusive practices.

The Role

The Leadership Team is seeking to add dedicated and enthusiastic teachers to our team as our school grows. Suitable applicants will ideally be committed to building a culture of excellence through collaboration and connection. As we are a new school, the suitable applicants ideally need to be flexible, solutions-focused, trustworthy, adaptable, and possess an openness and capacity for learning as we continue to build our school culture over the coming years.

Suitable applicants will ideally be committed to reflective teaching practices through active participation in a culture of professional growth. This includes coaching, classroom observation and feedback, as well as commitment to their own professional learning to ensure they maintain and build on contemporary, evidence-based approaches. The Henley Brook PS teaching team engage with and contribute to whole school, phase of learning and curriculum teams as we work to embed and strengthen our whole school approach to teaching and learning. Our educators are committed to continuous self-improvement and building their leadership skills both within and beyond the classroom.

Teachers within our Early Childhood Education phase of learning should promote the principles of the Early Years Learning Framework and National Quality Standards. They will ideally recognise that children need opportunities to interact and build trusting relationships. Programs we run include planned, purposeful play, balanced with the explicit teaching of essential foundation skills and concepts.

Teachers at Henley Brook PS adopt high impact teaching strategies and use ongoing formative assessment to provide feedback to students at the point of error, measure student progress, differentiate teaching and plan next steps in learning. The Science of Learning underpins our instructional framework which includes daily reviews and is built around the principles of Cognitive Load Theory. Explicit instruction of core knowledge and skills is our signature pedagogy. This is further supported by providing our students with opportunities to consolidate and deepen their knowledge through a range of rich learning experiences. Effective relationships and partnerships promote positive outcomes for students. We are seeking teachers who ideally display outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, who strive to develop professional and positive working relationships with students, staff, parents, and the wider community.
