Baker & Provan is seeking an experienced Metal Machinist with at least 3 years of industry experience to work in our large engineering workshop.
The successful candidate will be responsible for setting up, operating, and manual programming CNC machining equipment to produce high-quality components to exact specifications.

Task & responsibilities
Set up, operate and manually program CNC lathes and milling machines, and other machining equipment.
Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and engineering specifications.
Program and adjust CNC machines for precision cutting and shaping of metal parts.
Conduct quality control checks to ensure components meet strict tolerances and specifications.
Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of machining equipment.
Work closely with engineers and production teams to optimize machining processes.
Adhere to workplace safety standards and company policies.
Qualification & experience
Minimum 3 years of experience as a Metal Machinist.
Relevant qualifications in Engineering, Fitting & Machining, or Trade Certificate III in Mechanical Engineering.
Strong knowledge of CNC programming (e.g., Fanuc, or Heidenhain controls).
Experience with CNC machining, precision measuring tools, and quality control processes.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documents.
Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and a commitment to quality.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

The workshop has 10 overhead cranes with the largest lift capacity up to 32 tonnes and employs 95 personnel across 4 sites in Australia.
