SITE LEADING HAND – FABRICATION / WELDING / FITTING
Are you a trade-qualified fabricator ready to step up and lead? Stewarts Engineering is looking for a driven and experienced Site Leading Hand to take ownership of our offsite projects — someone who leads by example, takes pride in quality, and knows how to get a team across the line.

The Role
This is a hands‑on leadership position where you will oversee project execution across site‑based works, while still actively participating in fabrication and installation tasks. You will be responsible for ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and to a high standard of quality.
* Lead and supervise fabrication and site teams
* Interpret technical drawings, plans, and specifications
* Plan, prioritise, and delegate daily work activities
* Ensure compliance with WHS, environmental, and company standards
* Drive productivity, quality control, and site housekeeping
* Support shutdowns, installs, and general workshop operations when required
* Problem‑solve technical and on‑site issues as they arise
About You
You are a capable tradesperson with strong leadership ability and a practical, solutions‑focused mindset. You take pride in your work and can confidently guide a team to achieve deadlines without compromising safety or quality.
* Strong experience in MIG, TIG & OXY welding (3+ years minimum)
* Proven background in structural steel, plate work, and fabrication projects
* Experience with site shutdowns, installations, and project delivery
* Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings with confidence
* Strong communication and team leadership skills
* Ability to pass pre‑employment medical & drug/alcohol screening
* Desirable tickets: EWP, Forklift, Working at Heights, MR Licence
Competitive hourly rate: $50 – $65 per hour + super (all hours worked paid super).
