Job Title
We are seeking a seasoned Network Security Engineer to join our team. This highly skilled individual will be responsible for developing and implementing network security tools, producing threat models and assessing risk around existing configurations, providing subject matter expertise on network security, firewalls and industry best practices.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of network security technologies, including firewalls, IDS/IPS solutions, network monitoring solutions, switch/router ACLs, network access control solutions, IPSec and TLS based VPNs, web application firewalls, email security, and logging and alerting with SIEMs.
This role requires excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, as well as the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. The Network Security Engineer will also need to be adept at learning new technologies and systems.
The responsibilities of this position include:
* Develop and implement network security tools.
* Produce threat models and assess risk around existing configurations.
* Provide subject matter expertise on network security, firewalls and industry best practices.
* Manage firewall configurations within the enterprise network based on operational requirements.
* Analyze and proactively come up with creative network solutions for operational needs that present security challenges.
* Document and formalize security processes.
* Manage and maintain network security systems by applying system patches and other periodic maintenance tasks.
* Work with other teams to determine functional needs, develop secure architectures, and communicate security best practices and policies.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
* A bachelor's degree in a STEM field and 3+ years of network security experience; OR 5+ years of network security experience in lieu of a degree.
* 1+ years of experience securing networks, IT infrastructure, applications, endpoints, and/or APIs.
* 1+ years of experience hardening Windows, MacOS, and/or Linux operating systems.
Preferred Skills and Experience
The following skills and experience would be beneficial:
* Strong understanding of network security technologies.
* Python programming and automation ability.
* Familiarity with networking protocols and the OSI model.
* Experience testing and implementing changes in a production environment.
* Adept at learning new technologies and systems.
* Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
