Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled Research Associate to contribute to our research effort in stellar and exoplanetary astronomy.
This role involves undertaking specific research projects, developing research expertise, and advancing our understanding of planets in multiple star systems using photometry data from space and ground-based telescopes.
The successful candidate will work collaboratively with academic staff and other researchers to achieve project goals and publish research findings in scientific journals.
Required Skills and Qualifications
* A PhD in Astronomy, Astrophysics, or a related field
* Demonstrated experience in the detection, confirmation, or characterisation of exoplanets
* Ability to undertake scientific research and publish in scientific journals
* Track record of publications and conference presentations in the discipline area
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Benefits
* $110K - $117K per annum plus superannuation and annual leave loading
* Fixed term contract for 3 years
* Full-time position (35 hours per week)
About the Role
The Research Associate will report to Scientia Senior Lecturer Benjamin Montet and have no direct reports.
The role involves:
* Undertaking specific research projects on planets in multiple star systems
* Supporting the dissemination of research outcomes through appropriate channels and outlets
* Contribution to development of research activities
Selection Criteria
To be successful in this role, you will need to meet the following selection criteria:
* A PhD in Astronomy, Astrophysics, or a related field prior to starting the position
* Demonstrated experience in the detection, confirmation, or characterisation of exoplanets
* Ability to undertake scientific research and publish in scientific journals
* Track record of publications and conference presentations in the discipline area relative to opportunity
