Job no: 889072. Work type: Full time. Location: Far North. Categories: Allied and Scientific Health, Mental Health. Flinders and Upper North Local Health Network – Whyalla. AHP2 | Full Time | Ongoing. Base Salary Range: $88,255 - $102,240 p.a. In addition to base salary, this position attracts Superannuation, Leave Loading and Salary Sacrificing Benefits (salary packaging).

Site and Service

Community Mental Health Team

The Community Mental Health Teams are located at both Port Augusta and Whyalla, providing specialised one-to-one counselling, group work, care coordination and health promotional activities to promote mental, emotional, physical, and social health and wellbeing. Workers provide information, education, counselling and support to adults, families and carers whose lives are affected by mental health issues. There are also specialist youth mental health clinicians based in the region and access to specialist older persons mental health services.

- Access to contextual Aboriginal Cultural Awareness Training (specific to the region) and access to Aboriginal Liaison Officers and Aboriginal Health Practitioners
- Links with Rural Support Service (RSS) – for useful resources and professional support and/or Clinical Governance

About the Role

As an Occupational Therapist, Psychologist, or Social Worker within the Local Health Network (LHN) Mental Health (MH) service, you will play a crucial role in delivering a comprehensive, integrated range of services that meet the diverse needs of consumers and the local community. You will apply your clinical experience and specialized knowledge to plan, implement, and evaluate services with a focus on prevention, early intervention, therapeutic treatment, and ongoing evaluation.

Working with reduced clinical direction, you will have the opportunity to take on leadership responsibilities, including contributing to the clinical support and supervision of less experienced allied health professionals, assistants, and students. As a key member of a multidisciplinary team, you will collaborate with health professionals and service providers from various sectors to ensure holistic care.

Your approach will be dynamic, utilizing evidence-based assessments, therapeutic interventions, and group or community development programs tailored to the needs of individuals and families. Whether providing individual therapy, family-focused interventions, or participating in community initiatives, you will help empower consumers and foster positive outcomes in mental health care. Your role will evolve as you gain further experience and continue to grow in both your clinical practice and leadership abilities.

About You

Occupational Therapist

- Must hold a recognised Occupational Therapy qualification and as a regulated profession be eligible for registration as an occupational therapist within Australia.

Psychologist

- Must hold general registration as a Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia. This normally requires at least an Honours Degree in Psychology and subsequent completion of 2 years of Board approved supervision and training as a Provisional Psychologist, either by completion of an approved Psychology postgraduate degree or in a Board approved psychology internship, or an equivalent qualification as determined by the Psychology Board of Australia. Clinical endorsement with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) or eligible and willing to participate in AHPRA Clinical Psychology Registrar Program is desirable.

Social Worker

- Must hold a recognised qualification within the Social Work profession and be eligible for full membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW). Must have participated on ongoing professional development in line with AASW guidelines. Must be able to demonstrate AHP2 level competencies for appointment at this level.
