About the Role
We are collaborating with a leading multiple disciplinary contractor based across Queensland who are now seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Estimator to join their pre-construction team. This role is ideal for a detail-driven estimator with strong mechanical services knowledge and the ability to deliver accurate, timely, and competitive tenders for complex Design & Construct (D&C) projects.
You will be responsible for supporting an annual tendering portfolio exceeding $100M, with individual project values typically ranging from $5M to $15M. This is a senior position requiring strategic insight, technical understanding, and the ability to influence bid outcomes through high-quality methodologies, risk assessments, and collaborative engagement with engineering and delivery teams.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare detailed mechanical services estimates for D&C projects (approx. 90% of workload).
* Manage end-to-end tender processes, including scope reviews, design assessments, and pricing strategies.
* Develop high-quality methodologies, risk mitigation strategies, and project programs for tender submissions.
* Collaborate with internal engineering teams to interrogate designs and propose value engineering options.
* Evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations, ensuring compliance with project specifications and standards.
* Prepare comprehensive BOQs, tender summaries, and project handover documentation.
* Contribute to pipeline and bid strategy discussions with senior leadership.
Skills & Experience
* Proven experience as a Mechanical Estimator within commercial HVAC/mechanical services.
* Engineering background (Mechanical or Building Services) highly desirable.
* Demonstrated success estimating medium-to-large projects valued between $5M–$15M.
* Strong exposure to D&C project delivery.
* Ability to produce clear, concise, and persuasive non-price documentation.
* Thorough understanding of current Australian Standards and AIRAH guidelines.
* Strong commercial acumen and analytical skills.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
