Job Title:
Workshop Technician – Boat Trailer setup and Service
Purpose and primary activity (Summary):
Hands-on technical and related administrative tasks needed for our workshop for Spitfire Boat Trailers in WA, in support of WA sales, service, and business activities.
To undertake trailer setup and client boat fitting for Spitfire Aluminium Trailers.
To undertake trailer maintenance and after-sales services
To administer parts and accessories sales in support of local and regional customers
Required Skills & Qualifications
Technical Skills
ability to undertake boat trailer service and maintenance
proficiency with workshop hand and bench top machine tools
Soft Skills
self-motivated, ability to work safely and professionally without direct supervision
positive attitude, enquiring mind, good listener, seeks to understand
happy to work cohesively in a small team
keen interest in boating – trailer or boat owner, keen fisherman, sailor, etc
mature, presentable, integrity, cost and waste conscious, accountable
competent towing and handling of boats and trailers
naturally prefers a high level of attention to detail and presentation
Education & Certification:
partial or completed technical studies or certification – eg fitting, trailer service, etc
training for manual handling, risk awareness, warehouse, customer service, etc will be of interest
valid driver's licence (for both manual and automatic) is mandatory
forklift licence is an advantage. The ability to get one is mandatory
Other skills
Computers - enough skills and familiarity to use a desktop computer for workshop administrative tasks of service reporting, data entry, maintaining files and records, parts sales, work quotes, and basic estimates. Typically, this will include user-level skills for:
Microsoft Word (writing basic reports, using data entry forms, importing photographs, saving and maintaining job files, printing, etc)
Microsoft Excel (entering information, updating customer and job information, saving and sending files, generating quotes)
Use of the Internet / Google - to research boat specs, parts, suppliers, etc as needed
If you have other workshop, or service type computer experience for checking stock and prices, parts information, looking up customer history, etc – this will be of interest.
Other business, workshop, and customer service skills suitable for a light workshop and small specialist boat trailer type business will be of interest
Job Type: Casual
