About the Position
Help Desk Engineer – responsible for supporting the systems, users and services that keep secure national programs operating effectively every day. Your work directly contributes to maintaining the reliability and availability of critical ICT environments that enable analysts, operators and technical teams across government, defence and intelligence missions.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead complex incident resolution and deep‐dive troubleshooting across hardware, software, network, identity and secure platforms.
* Perform systems administration including provisioning, endpoint and server maintenance, patching, configuration management and system health monitoring.
* Administer and support secure or classified environments in accordance with security frameworks and operational procedures.
* Conduct root cause analysis and contribute to problem management, long‐term remediation and continuous improvement initiatives.
* Provide hands‐on, on‐site ICT support including device deployments, workstation builds, secure network patching, cabling and hardware lifecycle management.
* Liaise directly with users, stakeholders and VIP/operational staff to resolve in‐facility issues where remote support is insufficient.
* Collaborate with engineering, network, cyber and operations teams to support system upgrades, integrations, escalated incidents and uplift Help Desk capability.
Qualifications
* Degree in a relevant ICT discipline or equivalent industry experience, certifications or demonstrated operational capability.
* Experience in Defence, intelligence or other secure operational environments highly regarded.
* Strong background in ICT support, system administration or operational ICT engineering.
* Demonstrated expertise in Windows administration, endpoint and server management, Active Directory/IAM, network fundamentals and system monitoring.
* Proven ability to independently manage complex incidents, make sound technical decisions and provide technical leadership.
* Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to mentor junior engineers and maintain secure, compliant ICT operations.
* Australian Citizen with an active TSPV Clearance; ability to obtain DISA/OSA clearance.
