* 3 Month Contract Role (View to Perm)
* Category Manager - Heavy Industry, Logistics experience required.
* Location: Pyrmont, Sydney
Role Purpose
Category Manager required for a 3-month contract within a large, national industrial services/ Utilities organisation. This business operates in a highly regulated, asset-intensive environment, with a strong focus on industrial services, mining, logistics, maintenance operations.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in fast-paced, complex environments and is ready to make an impact quickly. You'll be working across untouched and non-traditional categories, helping to drive procurement transformation in a post-merger setting where data, legacy systems and supplier relationships present both challenges and opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead national strategic sourcing reviews: source-to-contract, expenditure analysis, RFP development, negotiation, and supplier relationship management.
* Develop and maintain Strategic Category Plans that respond to market conditions and support value generation.
* Manage categories such as: Waste collection, logistics, trucks, spare parts, maintenance
* Third-party service agents and compliance-driven services
* Partner with another Category Manager to consolidate and manage overlapping categories.
* Drive compliance, cost savings, and procurement excellence using tools like SAP Ariba.
* Implement a "best in class" Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) program.
* Make informed decisions with imperfect data—a pragmatic, outcome-focused mindset is essential.
* Support the evolution of the procurement function and contribute to ESG initiatives.
* Provide accurate compliance reporting and support internal stakeholders with procurement advice.
Ideal Candidate
* Industrial background – experience in Categories such as waste, mining, heavy logistics, or environmental services.
* 3–5 years of relevant procurement/category management experience.
* Strong commercial acumen and experience in complex, decentralised organisations.
* Comfortable working in high-pressure, fast-paced environments with limited data.
* Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills.
* High level of project management and change leadership experience.
