About us
At Western District Health Service (WDHS) we pride ourselves on our strong teamwork and our shared commitment to providing person-centred high-quality healthcare to the Southern Grampians community. WDHS comprises a number of health facilities of which Penshurst and District Health Service (PDHS) is one. PDHS is located in the small township of Penshurst approximately 30 kilometres from the main facility of WDHS, Hamilton Base Hospital.
Penshurst is perched on one of Australia's most significant volcanic landscapes, cosied up beside the now dormant volcano of Collorrer (Mount Rouse), Penshurst's namesake was most likely inspired by the historic English village in Kent, and this is quite apt considering the Victorian town is home to beautiful bluestone buildings, a noble horse race, a never-failing spring and lush green scenery.
Relax & unwind at the Penshurst Botanic Gardens, enjoy a historic town walk, take a dip in the local pool, or find a perfect picnic spot to soak up the fresh country air.
Discover the wonders of volcanoes at the Volcanoes Discovery Centre, where the power of nature comes to life through immersive exhibits and fascinating insights.
Stop by the Penshurst Store, a charming country bakery, and be welcomed with warm hospitality and delicious treats.
