We are seeking an experienced Payroll Officer to join our team in Dandenong South. This pivotal role requires a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail, ensuring the timely and accurate processing of wages and salaries across our diverse workforce.


Job Description

The successful candidate will be responsible for accurately processing weekly wages and monthly salaries, interpreting and applying awards, EBAs, and contracts to ensure correct pay outcomes, maintaining payroll records, processing leave applications, and calculating termination payments.

This role also involves reconciling payroll-related ledger accounts, supporting month-end reporting, and assisting with internal/external audits, payroll queries, and process improvement initiatives.


Key Responsibilities

* Awards and Industrial Agreements: Interpret and apply awards, EBAs, and contracts to ensure correct pay outcomes.
* Payroll Processing: Accurately process weekly wages and monthly salaries for employees across multiple sites.
* Record-Keeping: Maintain payroll records, process leave applications, and calculate termination payments.
* Reconciliation: Reconcile payroll-related ledger accounts and support month-end reporting.
* Assistance: Assist with internal/external audits, payroll queries, and process improvement initiatives.


Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will need:

* Experience: Experience in a similar payroll role within a complex, fast-paced environment.
* Qualifications: Qualifications in Finance, Business, or related field.
* Knowledge: Strong working knowledge of awards and industrial agreements.
* Skills: Proficiency in processing both waged and salaried payrolls, experience with payroll systems and electronic time & attendance solutions, advanced Microsoft Office skills (particularly Excel), strong communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills.


Preferred Requirements

* Software Knowledge: Experience using Chris21 or similar payroll software.
* Legislative Knowledge: Familiarity with New Zealand payroll legislation and processes.
* Innovation: Previous exposure to continuous improvement and innovation in payroll systems.
