Role overview
We are seeking to establish a pool of Mathematics Teachers for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2025 school year and up to the end of Term 4, 2026. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.
At the School of Isolated and Distance Education (SIDE), we offer the full range of lower secondary and senior secondary Mathematics courses. Explicit instruction is the basis of our pedagogical model. We are looking for teachers with strong knowledge of, and proven success in, teaching and differentiating the Mathematics curriculum at all year levels. The analysis and use of diagnostic and student performance data to inform teaching and learning programs is critical to success in this role.
This position will suit self-reflective, motivated teachers with outstanding classroom teaching practice, who exhibit innovation and creativity in classroom practices and hold a deep understanding of the numeracy continuum in the Western Australian curriculum. As a teacher at SIDE, you will create engaging and culturally responsive materials to cater for student diversity, including students with English as an additional language/dialect, and students at educational risk.
Suitable applicants should have excellent interpersonal skills and be committed to working as part of a dynamic and collaborative team. Having a positive attitude with the ability to anticipate and adapt to change, and showing initiative, flexibility and creative problem solving to produce the best opportunities for students will be highly regarded.
Responsibilities
The role involves teaching Mathematics across year levels, differentiating instruction to meet diverse student needs, and using diagnostic data to inform learning programs. You will create engaging and culturally responsive materials to support student diversity and inclusion, including students with English as an additional language/dialect and students at educational risk. You will contribute to a collaborative team environment and adapt to evolving practices in a blended online and onsite setting.
SIDE models exemplary practice in the use of both synchronous (Webex) and asynchronous (Moodle) platforms of instruction. You will participate in the school's regional travel program to meet student and partner school needs, with visits planned in negotiation with staff and, at times, short-term stays in regional and remote locations.

Eligibility
Hold an eligible teacher qualification and registration.
Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment. More information about employment eligibility can be found on our website.
