Applications are invited from suitably qualified medical practitioners eligible for registration in current South Wales for the Department of Psychiatry, Central Coast Local Health District (CCLHD). Applicants should be a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists and/or other specialist recognition as provided for in the Visiting Medical Officer Determination/Staff Specialist (State) Award.
What You'll Be Doing
* Work in partnership with the Director of Mental Health Nursing/District Director of Service/General Manager and the District Clinical/District Director to ensure high quality medical and health care services with safe, efficient and effective use of allocated resources, aligning with organisational objectives and the Clinical Services Plan.
* Collaborate with senior staff within the department and site or directorate, maintaining reliable and consistent communication to achieve shared tasks.
* Enhance patient flow by ensuring timely interaction of team members with Emergency Department admissions and Allied Health and other staff, limiting length of stay for admissions under care.
* Disseminate information for action and decision-making within the Department and represent the team at site and area HOD meetings.
* Contribute to the overall clinical governance of mental health services, including annual performance reviews, development and implementation of clinical models of care, and alignment with best practice and quality improvement.
* Perform responsibilities in addition to the normal Senior Medical Practitioner position description for the relevant clinical specialty.
Qualifications
* Medical Practitioner registered or able to be registered in Australia, inclusive of an unrestricted or 19AB exempted provider number.
* Recognised specialist qualifications: Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists and/or other equivalent specialist recognition. Applicants expecting to be awarded fellowship within six months may be considered.
* Appropriate experience to practice as a Senior Medical Practitioner in Psychiatry.
* Ability to work constructively and effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment, demonstrating excellent interpersonal and communications skills.
* Demonstrated willingness and ability to lead and supervise medical and surgical trainees, residents and medical students; prior experience in teaching management of the deteriorating patient advantageous.
* Demonstrated interest in quality improvement methodologies.
* Demonstrated commitment to Caring for the Coast vision, goals and strategies; behaviours aligning with NSW CORE Values and CCLHD Values and Behaviours charter.
