We are looking for an experienced
Lead Data Modeller (Microsoft SQL Server)
for a long-term contract with one of our Federal Government Clients.
Required Skills
* Proven experience in
dimensional modelling and analytical modelling in enterprise environments
* Strong proficiency in
Microsoft SQL Server, Azure Data Services and Power BI
* Must have
a robust understanding of the data modelling and ETL lifecycle
* Deep understanding of
data warehousing principles, ETL processes, and BI architecture
* Must have the ability to
design dimensional models (star/snowflake schemas) for business applications and reporting solutions that support forecasting, trend analysis, and performance metrics.
* Ability
to communicate
complex data concepts to technical and non-technical audiences
* Proficient in
documenting data models, definitions and ETL data mapping rules.
* Excellent
written and verbal communication skills
, able to work effectively with diverse and geographically dispersed teams.
Desirable Skills
* Familiarity with
Microsoft Azure, SQL Server and emerging data tools in the Microsoft ecosystem
* Prior experience in
federal government data domains
* Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field (
e.g. Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Engineering).
Responsibilities
* Designing analytical solutions using Microsoft technologies & working closely with stakeholders and engineers to develop an end-to-end solution.
* Ensure data models align with Microsoft best practices, particularly within Power BI and SQL Server environments.
* Collaborate with data engineers, software developers, data analysts, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable data models.
* Maintain metadata repositories and data dictionaries in line with the organisation's data and application governance standards.
* Optimise model performance for large-scale datasets and complex queries or application data access requirements.
* Contribute to the development of semantic models in Power BI.
* Following the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) methodology for software development and contributing to Agile ceremonies.
* Adhering to coding best practices and the organisation's code quality standards including version control, code documentation, and testing.
