Porta is currently seeking applications from suitably qualified persons for a Mechanic position. This role is being offered on a full-time permanent basis and is to be based in Bombala NSW.
The Role
We are currently recruiting for a qualified Mechanic to work on our Mobile Plant machinery. In this role, your key responsibility will be to maintain diesel equipment operation by completing inspections and preventive maintenance requirements; correcting vehicle deficiencies; adjustment and alignments as needed and keeping records.
This role will report directly to the Maintenance Leading Hand on shift and the Maintenance Coordinator.
The successful candidates will have the ability to work in a diverse team environment, be deadline driven with a strong sense of urgency and be able to hit the ground running in a hands-on high-pressure environment.
A willingness to work rotating day and afternoon shift and overtime as required is also essential.

* Provide quality outcomes to work tasks and aim for continuous improvement in all areas of your responsibility.
Skills
* A minimum Certificate 3 Engineering-Mechanical
* A developed awareness and commitment to Workplace Health and Safety.
* Welding skills in both heavy MIG and ARC welding (desirable but not essential)
* Experience working within breakdown and preventative maintenance.
* Fault finding and problem-solving skills
* Fabrication skills
