Job Summary
In this role, you will provide support to the organization by assisting with the development and implementation of the organization's innovation initiatives. You will contribute to strategy, planning, implementation, and serve as a subject‐matter expert for the project team, helping to facilitate the progress of innovation initiatives and directly contribute to new technology exploration and overall business success at Bechtel.
Major Responsibilities
* Plan the scope, schedule, and cost of a medium‐size innovation initiative or a specific innovation initiative area.
* Develop, implement, and maintain the organization's innovation initiatives to accelerate safer, faster, and leaner project execution.
* Provide inputs for strategy, planning, budget estimation, staff planning, implementation, procedure management, knowledge management, measurement and reporting, risk management, and continuous improvement.
* Monitor trends in innovation topics and standards, and recommend new technology exploration to meet project needs.
* Communicate the organization's innovation vision and initiative information.
* Execute, monitor, and facilitate progress of innovation initiatives in line with strategies, goals, and reporting standards.
* Plan and execute assigned work, coordinate, and review the work of others implementing parts of the innovation initiatives.
* At the proposal stage, prepare innovation content, discipline estimates, and work plans in accordance with project scope, schedule, and budget, and plan implementation and performance accordingly.
* Review and recommend the innovation aspects of bid evaluations and award approvals.
* Obtain approval of innovation initiative aspects from client representatives when directed.
* Interface and coordinate with other project functions and services to optimize expertise and resources.
Education and Experience Requirements
* Bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5–8 years of relevant experience, or 9–12 years of relevant work experience.
Required Knowledge and Skills
* Experience managing innovation, pilots, or proof‐of‐concepts, including capturing value, ROI, and lessons learned.
* Hands‐on experience implementing innovative or digital technologies within engineering or construction environments (e.g., digital workflows, field technologies, BIM/GIS, automation, data‐driven tools).
* Strong understanding of project workflows across design, construction, project controls, and handover processes.
* Proven ability to lead cross‐functional initiatives, influence stakeholders, and drive measurable change across projects or business units.
* Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to evolving needs.
* Experience facilitating workshops, meetings, or ideation sessions and ensuring follow‐through on decisions and actions.
* Experience researching, piloting, or deploying robotics or construction automation technologies within engineering or construction environments.
* Experience with Design Thinking, Lean, or Six Sigma methodologies.
* Experience with crowdsourcing or ideation platforms and innovation prioritization frameworks.
* Hands‐on experience working on construction sites and/or knowledge of construction equipment technology ecosystems.
