Integration Engineer – SEA1442 Phase 5 (Maritime Communications Modernisation)

About The Role
We are seeking an experienced Integration Engineer to support the SEA1442 Phase 5 Maritime Communications Modernisation (MCM) program.
This role will play a critical part in delivering advanced SATCOM capability to the Royal Australian Navy, supporting the integration of Cobra and King Cobra SATCOM terminals, as well as future Aggregation and Encryption Systems, across multiple maritime platforms.
You will work closely with Defence stakeholders (CASG, RAN) and industry partners including EM Solutions and Boeing Defence Australia, ensuring successful integration outcomes aligned with Defence engineering frameworks such as ASDEFCON, Seaworthiness, and the One Defence Capability System (ODCS).
Key Responsibilities
* Support end-to-end integration of SATCOM and communications systems onto maritime platforms
* Provide engineering advice to Project Managers, Engineering Managers, and Chief Engineers
* Review and assess contractor deliverables, designs, and technical outputs
* Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve system integration and interface issues
* Support installation, testing, and deployment activities onsite (including shipyards)
* Participate in technical forums including Materiel System Reviews (MSRs) and Interface Control Working Groups (ICWGs)
* Contribute to system architecture reviews and future maritime capability alignment
* Prepare and maintain engineering documentation and project artefacts
* Support configuration management and technical data management activities
* Assist with technical certification and product acceptance planning
* Provide technical risk assessments and integration recommendations
* Engage with key stakeholders across Defence, Navy, and industry
Required Experience & Qualifications
* Bachelor of Engineering or relevant technical qualification (Washington Accord recognised)
* Chartered Engineer (or working towards)
* Demonstrated experience in Systems Engineering or Integration Engineering
* Experience working within Defence, CASG, or comparable regulated environments
* Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
* Ability to analyse and communicate complex technical information clearly
Desirable Experience
* Experience in maritime or Navy projects (Seaworthiness environment)
* Background in SATCOM, Communications Systems, RF, or Network Engineering
* Familiarity with ASDEFCON, ODCS, or Defence Capability Lifecycle
* Experience working with Defence Primes or SMEs (e.g. Boeing, EM Solutions)
* Exposure to test & evaluation, installation, and platform integration activities
