Scotch College Adelaide is an ambitious ELC–12 College that values courage, integrity, inclusivity, and a focus on tomorrow. We are seeking a highly capable Senior Payroll Officer who thrives on complexity, precision and ensuring staff are paid accurately, on time, every time. 
About the role 
- Reporting to the Director of People and Culture, you will: Lead the College’s end-to-end payroll for teaching staff, while overseeing payroll processed by the People and Culture Coordinator for professional services and casual employees. 
- Master the College’s Enterprise Agreement and relevant Modern Awards — interpreting them with accuracy and providing thorough, transparent, practical advice to staff and leaders. 
- Apply critical thinking to resolve complex payroll and leave scenarios, ensuring compliance while delivering consistent outcomes. 
- Maintain the integrity of payroll systems and data, support audits and reporting, and drive process improvements that lift efficiency and accuracy. 
About you 
- Demonstrated expertise in end-to-end payroll delivery in a school environment, with a proven ability to apply Enterprise Agreements and Awards (essential). 
- Prior experience with school systems such as Synergetic, Preceda or SEQTA (essential). 
- A deep working knowledge of payroll legislation, superannuation, taxation and leave entitlements. 
- The ability to think critically, analyse complex issues, and provide sound, timely advice that staff and leaders can rely on. 
- Exceptional accuracy, confidentiality and interpersonal skills, with the capacity to explain payroll intricacies in clear, supportive language.
