The role will focus on delivering integrated, constructible, and cost-effective solutions that meet project objectives, regulatory requirements, and operational readiness criteria.Initially offered as a 12-month fixed-term contract for the DFS phase, this role is designed to become permanent once the project achieves FID and moves into Execution, where responsibilities will expand to include detailed design oversight, construction support, and commissioning readiness.Key Responsibilities Design Development & OversightLead the development of mechanical and piping design deliverables, including equipment specification, data sheet generation, equipment layouts and piping routing, material selection, and stress analysisManage the mechanical and piping contributions to the 3D model, ensuring equipment placement, pipe routing, and supporting systems are fully coordinated with other engineering disciplinesDevelop and govern mechanical and piping engineering standards and specifications aligned with project requirements and industry best practices.Review and approve mechanical and piping drawings, calculations, and vendor documentation to ensure technical quality and complianceIntegration & CoordinationCollaborate with process, piping, civil, structural, and EC&I teams to ensure integrated and clash-free designsAct as the primary interface with the engineering service provider for mechanical and piping scopeManage scope, deliverables, and technical queries across internal and external stakeholdersLiaise with equipment vendors and suppliers to obtain technical data and support procurement activitiesExecution SupportProvide field engineering support during construction, including inspections and issue resolutionSupport commissioning teams in testing and validating mechanical and piping systemsContribute to early works planning, construction sequencing, and commissioning readinessEnsure systems are aligned with operational requirements and safety standardsGovernance & ReportingImplement quality assurance processes and manage technical risks and design changesMaintain discipline schedules and progress tracking in coordination with project controlsDeliver clear, impactful updates to support project reviews and stakeholder engagementOversee preparation and handover of mechanical and piping documentation for commissioning and operationsAbout You To be successful in your application you will bringA bachelor's degree (or higher) in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.Extensive experience in mechanical and piping engineering for major industrial or resource projects, with a strong background in large‐scale greenfield processing or industrial plant developmentsStrong capability in leading design development, vendor engagement, and execution planning.Proven ability to manage technical interfaces and coordinate across disciplines.Deep understanding of mechanical and piping standards, codes (e.g., ASME, API), and regulatory compliance.Experience working with Engineering Service Providers and managing external deliverables.Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and team leadership skills.A proactive mindset focused on safety, quality, and continuous improvement.Why Join Tronox?
