The Good Birth is on the hunt for a seriously passionate and engaging Midwife Educator to run our birth classes for expectant parents in Ipswich or the Gold Coast (multiple positions).
Join founder Allie, an endorsed midwife with 12+ years of experience, in a growing small business that's all about empowering parents. We're on a mission to deliver honest, inclusive, and evidence-based antenatal education that builds confidence, reduces fear, and helps parents make informed decisions. Our classes cover everything from the physiology of birth, practical pain coping strategies, being a great partner, decision-making skills, newborn behaviour, to life in the early postnatal period, all in a judgement-free, genuinely supportive, and fun environment.
This role is perfect for a midwife who loves teaching, connecting with parents, and celebrating birth, believes deeply in women's innate ability to birth, and wants to help parents understand their options in the maternity system, no matter how their birth unfolds.
About the Role
As a Birth Class Educator, you'll lead engaging classes that prepare parents for labour, birth, and early parenting. The aim is to empower parents with clear, evidence-based information, leaving them feeling confident, informed, maybe even a little excited, but ultimately a whole lot less fearful.
* Classes run 1–2 times per month for approximately 7 hours on one weekend day (usually Saturday)
* Opportunities to teach private classes are also available
* You'll use The Good Birth curriculum and resources, while bringing your own personality, experience, and creativity to the session
Responsibilities
* Make the day fun! Facilitate engaging and interactive birth classes
* Deliver evidence-based education, not hospital policy
* Help parents think critically, make informed decisions, and understand their options in the maternity system
* Answer questions thoughtfully and point parents to reliable sources of further information
* Use inclusive language to ensure all families feel welcome and represented
* Present material in a clear, engaging, and conversational style
* Represent The Good Birth philosophy in a positive and professional way
* Stay up to date with current research and proactively expand your midwifery knowledge
About You
We're looking for someone who:
* Is a registered midwife with AHPRA registration, actively practising (endorsement highly regarded but not essential)
* Believes in women's innate ability to birth, understands labour physiology, and approaches birth with respect, curiosity, and evidence-based practice
* Can entertain and creatively engage parents for a full day of learning
* Communicates in a warm, inclusive, and non-judgemental way
* Is curious, reflective, and committed to ongoing learning
* Additional qualifications are a bonus, including Possums NDC, Spinning Babies, OMP, bodywork/internal pelvic release, CalmBirth, Hypnobirthing, or other relevant birth/postpartum education
What We Offer
* Competitive contractor pay (ABN required)
* Group classes typically 1–2 per month per location
* Opportunities for private classes
* All curriculum, slides, and teaching resources provided
* A fun, positive, and supportive teaching environment
* If endorsed, opportunities to work within other aspects of The Good Birth, including antenatal and postnatal care if desired
