Delivering Effective Invasive Pest Management Strategies
This pivotal role is responsible for driving the delivery of invasive pest management programs within the North Coast region. Working closely with public and private land managers, you will help implement effective pest management strategies that meet general biosecurity obligations.
1. Develop and prioritize strategic implementation plans for the North Coast Regional Strategic Pest Animal Management Plan.
2. Collaborate with the North Coast LLS Invasive Species Team to deliver local on-ground pest management projects identified for the Feral Pig and Pest Program.
3. Manage budgetary and reporting requirements for invasive species management initiatives.
4. Provide expertise in invasive species management for Ministerial requests.
5. Contribute to monitoring and surveillance projects across the North Coast region.
6. Coordinate feral animal control efforts over diverse land tenures.
7. Engage with stakeholders across private and public landholdings.
8. Manage feral animal control contractors, including invoicing and reporting.
Required Skills and Qualifications
* Proven experience in invasive pest management, with a strong understanding of pests within the North Coast region.
* Sound knowledge of strategic planning principles.
* Familiarity with North Coast LLS farming industries and systems, with experience in engaging with farmers.
* A degree in agriculture or rural science, or equivalent knowledge and experience.
* Excellent communication skills to collaborate with government, industry, and community stakeholders.
* An ability to think strategically and understand risk as it applies to pests and farming in the North Coast region.
* Demonstrated project management experience, including monitoring and evaluation.
* Experience working in a team environment to achieve results.
