In this role you will design, develop and implement advanced control systems used in innovative industrial equipment and automation projects. Working closely with the Head of Projects and Engineering team, you will play a key role in delivering reliable, safe and high-performance automation solutions from design through to commissioning. This is an exciting opportunity for an engineer with PLC programming and control systems experience who enjoys working on complex machinery, automation projects and advanced manufacturing technologies. About the Role As an Automation Engineer, you will be responsible for the design and implementation of electrical control systems and PLC-based automation solutions used in LaserBond equipment and engineering projects. You will contribute across the full project lifecycle including: Control system design PLC programming Electrical component selection Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) Site installation and commissioning Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) Technical documentation and procedures Key Responsibilities Design and develop electrical control systems for automated mechanical equipment Program and maintain PLC systems (Allen-Bradley preferred) Select and specify electrical and control components Develop PLC workflows, control logic and system documentation Support commissioning, installation and testing of automation systems Prepare technical documentation, operating procedures and training materials Collaborate with production teams, R&D and project engineers Liaise with external vendors, contractors and suppliers Support robotic and control systems used in production environments Assist with continuous improvement initiatives for automation systems Skills & Experience To be successful in this role you will have: Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation Engineering or similar Minimum 3 years' experience in automation or control systems engineering Experience with PLC programming (Allen-Bradley preferred) Knowledge of industrial automation, electrical control systems and machinery Experience with commissioning, FAT/SAT and industrial equipment Strong technical documentation and reporting skills Ability to work collaboratively with engineering and production teams Personal Attributes We are looking for someone who is: A strong problem solver with attention to detail A self-starter who can manage project tasks independently Comfortable working with cross-functional teams Professional with strong communication skills Motivated to contribute to engineering innovation and continuous improvement Why Join LaserBond?
