Your Role
Mallee District Aboriginal Services (MDAS) is one of Victoria's largest Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations.
Join our passionate Early Years team and help local families build strong foundations for lifelong learning in the Home Interaction Program for Parents and Youngsters, working as a HIPPY Tutor.
As a HIPPY Tutor, you'll complete initial training and support parents participating in the HIPPY program through peer to peer learning, guidance's and encouragement. You'll help parents gain confidence in their role as their child's first teacher while ensuring program goals and participation targets are achieved. You'll also work closely with other Early Years staff to connect families with local supports and services that enhance their outcomes.
This opportunity is open to parents who;
* Have a child currently enrolled in HIPPY, or
* Had a child in HIPPY within the past 12 months, or
* Are eligible to enrol in the program.
These are permanent, part time positions working 3 days per week, 5 hours per day during school terms only and are based at our Mildura office location.
Key Selection Criteria
* An understanding of early childhood development and education.
* Demonstrated experience in community based programs.
* A demonstrated commitment and sensitivity to the needs and interests of the community being served.
* Willingness to advocate on behalf of children and families.
* Ability to take action to provide services that are inclusive of Aboriginal people and engage in learning about other cultures to better establish relationships and improve services
Qualification/s:
A willingness to undertake a qualification during the period of employment.
Other Screening Requirements:
Valid Driver's License that allows you to drive in Australia.
Victorian Employee Working with Children Check card.
National Police Check.
