About the role
The SAMI nuclear medicine consultant reports to the site's Campus Clinical Head and delivers nuclear medicine services of the highest possible standard to SAMI patients. The incumbent is responsible for clinical performance, contribution to multi‑disciplinary care, teaching, and research and works as part of a multi‑disciplinary clinical and academic team.
Specifically, this position primarily assists in the provision of nuclear medicine services at TQEH/LMH. Responsibilities of the incumbent include:
* Provision of professional leadership to clinical staff and supervision of teaching of nuclear medicine trainees, other staff and medical students.
* Active support and participation in quality improvement and quality assurance activities to ensure safe, appropriate, effective and efficient patient‑centred care processes.
* Representing SAMI at campus meetings and liaising with clinicians regarding service provision (e.g. at hospital clinico‑imaging, multidisciplinary team meetings and management team meetings). It is expected that the incumbent will take responsibility for at least one clinico‑imaging / multidisciplinary meeting per week.
* A duty to support and encourage team cooperation amongst staff to optimise the level and diagnostic accuracy of the service provided.
At the request of the Campus Clinical Head, the incumbent may be required to deliver nuclear medicine services at a variety of SAMI locations.
About You
To excel in this role, you will bring advanced specialist training in nuclear medicine, strong clinical expertise, and a collaborative, patient‑focused approach to delivering high‑quality imaging services.
* Qualified and registered – MBBS or equivalent with specialist registration or eligible for specialist registration, and recognised nuclear medicine training
* Experienced nuclear medicine practitioner – Proven competence across a broad range of nuclear medicine procedures with experience in clinical governance and consumer engagement
* Strong communicator and mentor – Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to teach, supervise and role‑model for trainees and junior staff
* Leadership and problem‑solving – Demonstrated ability to lead, manage and influence teams, foster respectful behaviour, and implement quality improvement and safe practice initiatives
