About This Opportunity
We are seeking a motivated and flexible Archivist to support the University Archivist to appraise, arrange, describe, and make accessible the University’s archival records.
As part of a small team, you will manage archival holdings of enduring historic value, supporting UQ’s corporate accountability, business needs, and community expectations. Responsibilities include handling administrative, student, and staff records, governance documents like Senate minutes, and responding to information requests internally and externally. You will also collaborate on digitization, managing born-digital records, and engaging with the community.

4. Contributing to a safe and secure physical environment for the UQ Archives collection for its long-term viability and usefulness and in accordance with legal requirements
5. Appraising, arranging, describing, and rehousing collections for preservation and access, with proactive care and conservation of records in the custody of UQ Archives.
6. Support delivery of a range of information services to internal and external clients in accordance with established standards and policies (University Records Management Policy and Archives Policy 1.60.05) and in accordance with relevant legislation (,, ).
7. Actively contribute ideas and input towards continuous improvement of systems, processes, procedures, policies, and work practices.

About You
8. A degree in archives, records or information management, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training in archives and/or records management.
9. Demonstrated knowledge of relevant archival and recordkeeping principles, legislation, information standards, policies, management systems and metadata standards, ideally within a university context.
10. Well-developed research and analytical skills, possessing excellent interpersonal and oral communication skills, with experience delivering high quality information services to clients.
11. Ability to work independently under general direction and as a part of a team to respond to changing priorities, organised and methodical approach to tasks, excellent attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy and as a part of a team to respond to changing priorities.
