Add expected salary to your profile for insightsThe Woodhouse Timber Company is an Australian-owned and established business that services the Queensland, New South Wales, ACT, Victorian, South Australian, and Western Australian markets with premium building products.Operating under an exclusive wholesale supply chain model, Woodhouse distributes its product ranges through a recognized network of Building Material and Hardware Merchants; Home Centre Outlets; and Truss and Wall frame manufacturers.Our range includes Structural and Decorative Remanufactured Plantation Pine products for internal and external building projects and applications.We currently have a full-time 6-Month Contract position available for a Warehouse Supervisor, based in Darra, Queensland.KEY PURPOSE:This leadership role is responsible for the efficient and effective coordination and supervision of all warehouse activities whilst ensuring that all safety aspects are adhered to.While the primary responsibility of this role is supervision of the warehouse, this role is a working role, and this Position Description should be read in conjunction with that of both the Forklift Operator and Shed Hand Position Descriptions.A key focus of this role is to support the execution of Woodhouse’s vision:“We are fast, flexible and frequent, providing customers with quality products and service, futureproofing our business”.MAJOR OBJECTIVES:The following are considered to be major objectives of the role:Compliance with all safety and environmental procedures/responsibilities;Responsible for the efficient and effective supervision of warehouse staff and activities;Use of the WMS (Warehouse Management System) to optimize warehouse performance;Manage and motivate the workforce to ensure that products are stored and shipped out accurately and efficiently;Ensure proper transport, packaging, and placement of products; andManagement of inventory, including damages.Your responsibilities, directly or indirectly, will include but will not be limited to:KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:SafetyBe a Woodhouse Timber Safety Champion and understand the responsibilities of this role;Ensure adherence to the Woodhouse Timber Health and Safety Handbook and the Woodhouse Timber Health and Safety Manual policies and procedures;Adherence to all safety regulations and legislative requirements;Ensure that safe and environmentally acceptable working methods and practices are implemented and carried out across all warehouse activities;Promote total job safety and environmental awareness to employees, subcontractors, and all persons in the job vicinity, emphasizing the importance of safe work practices and environmental protection;Ensure hazards are identified, risk assessed, and control measures are planned and implemented in consultation with relevant employees and authorized by the Warehouse Manager;Act diligently to ensure all Risk and Safety Assessments are completed using the appropriate forms and documents.Management & PlanningSupport and direct activities to ensure completion in accordance with Company plans and procedures;Organize, coordinate, and direct warehouse activities to meet metrics and targets, ensuring work is completed on time and within budget while meeting safety and environmental requirements;Provide support and direction to personnel to ensure clarity of daily tasks and company goals;Create and maintain a positive working environment;Hold self and staff accountable;Ensure all activities comply with relevant specifications, codes, and standards;Monitor and review performance of plant, labor, and subcontractors to meet KPIs, taking appropriate action as necessary;Timely submission of reports (Shift Reports, Toolbox Forms, Risk Assessments, Incident Reports);Improve warehouse processes through strategic planning in consultation with the State Operations Manager;Assess and prioritize tasks as necessary;Advise management of issues and keep accurate records;Ensure all personnel are inducted and trained appropriately;Assist in hiring personnel;Prepare and present Toolbox and Safety Team meetings in consultation with the Warehouse Manager.OperationalOversee monthly responsibilities of the Safety and Inventory Teams;Maintain machinery, ensuring pre-starts and servicing are conducted;Organize incoming and outgoing transport liaising with transport providers;Maintain a clean and tidy warehouse environment;Requisition minor materials and consumables as needed;Utilize resources efficiently;Promote a professional company image;Perform any other duties as required by the company.Qualifications/Skills/AttributesMinimum 3 years leadership experience in a warehouse environment (Timber industry preferred);Knowledge of inventory and supply chain management;Forklift license and confident in forklift operation;Knowledge of WH&S requirements;Strong leadership and management skills;Excellent organizational and time-management skills;Ability to meet deadlines under pressure;Strong communication skills;Problem-solving and decision-making skills;Warehouse and pick/pack experience;Certificate III in Warehousing Operations (highly regarded but not essential).AuthoritiesAuthority to stop work immediately if hazards are present, with resolution by the Warehouse or Regional Warehouse Operations Manager.Working RelationshipsReports to Warehouse Manager;
