Teaching Position: Year 6 Reading Specialist
We are seeking an experienced and passionate teacher to join our team as a Year 6 reading specialist. The successful candidate will be responsible for guiding students in their literacy development and research skills, curating and maintaining an engaging library collection, collaborating with teachers to integrate library resources into classroom learning, organizing events and activities to promote reading, and providing support and guidance to students in their independent learning and information-seeking skills.
About the Role:
* This is a part-time position teaching in the Library, 8 periods per week (Thursdays and Fridays) with a 12:15pm finish on Fridays.
* The ideal candidate will dedicate two periods to plan and refine our Year 6 reading and research program.
Responsibilities:
1. Assist with the Year 6 Library Program, guiding students in their literacy development and research skills.
2. Curate and maintain an engaging library collection that supports the curriculum and student interests.
3. Collaborate with teachers to integrate library resources into classroom learning.
4. Organize events and activities to promote reading and encourage a lifelong love of books.
5. Provide support and guidance to students in their independent learning and information-seeking skills.
Requirements:
The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for literature, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with students, staff, and parents. A deep understanding of the curriculum and assessment requirements is also essential.
