SkillQuest Solutions are seeking a qualified and experienced Motor Mechanic on behalf of our client who runs a well-established, family-owned dealership and automotive service centre, located in Cranbourne, Victoria.
Servicing the local community and surrounding regions, this business offers a wide range of new and used vehicles, as well as manufacture-level servicing, genuine parts and accessories in their large and modern workshop service area. The dealership is recognised for its experienced and skilled mechanics, outstanding customer service, and extensive maintenance and repair expertise, supporting both private vehicles and fleet operations.
Position - Motor Mechanic (General)
Location – Cranbourne, Victoria
Salary - $75,000 - $85,000 plus superannuation per annum

THE ROLE:
We are looking for a Motor Mechanic who is highly skilled and takes pride in their work. You must be reliable and committed to delivering exceptional service. Key responsibilities include:
· Conduct comprehensive vehicle inspections and scheduled servicing in accordance with manufacturer and brand-specific standards, maintaining detailed vehicle records by recording service and repairs.
· Perform routine and preventive maintenance, including oil and filter changes, brake servicing, suspension repairs, tyre fitting, wheel balancing, and electrical system work.
· Carry out advanced fault diagnostics using appropriate diagnostic tools and manufacturer manuals.
· Repair and replace faulty or worn mechanical parts, including engines, transmissions, differentials, and steering systems.
· Maintain workshop equipment by following operating instructions, troubleshooting faults, ensuring adequate supplies, performing preventive maintenance, and arranging repairs when required.
· Assist in evaluating and road-testing customers' vehicles to confirm repairs are effective.
· Supervise and provide guidance to apprentices as required.
· Adhere strictly to occupational health and safety (OHS) standards, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), safe workshop practices, and proper disposal of hazardous materials, to maintain a safe and efficient working environment.
· Provide excellent customer service at all times, maintaining high standards of professionalism and workmanship.
· Communicate effectively with customers to ensure they understand their vehicle's needs.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
· Certificate IV in Automotive Mechanical Diagnosis (or agreed equivalent).
· Minimum of 1 year (preferably more) post training experience in a similar role.
· Broad knowledge of automotive systems, tools, and workshop equipment.
· Ability to diagnose mechanical and electrical faults accurately.
· Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety standards.
· Able to work independently and as part of a team.
· Reliable, with great time management skills.
· Current Full Australian driver's licence - ESSENTIAL.
· You must have unrestricted working rights to work full time in Australia to be eligible for consideration.
