About the opportunity
Full‐time, fixed term for 12 months for a Research Associate / Postdoctoral Research Associate – Biostatistics to join a multi‐disciplinary cardiovascular research program at the Charles Perkins Centre and Kolling Institute. The role is hosted by the Sydney Precision Data Science Centre and the School of Mathematics and Statistics, working closely with Chief Investigators Prof. Gemma Figtree and Prof. Jean Yang. The successful applicant will apply biostatistics methods to large‐scale biomedical and clinical datasets to support the discovery and development of novel cardiovascular biomarkers.
Key responsibilities
* Conduct independent and team‐based data analysis on large‐scale biomedical and/or clinical datasets.
* Publish research papers in international peer‐reviewed journals.
* Present research findings at conferences.
* Mentor undergraduate and postgraduate students.
About you
* Strong background in biostatistics or statistical genetics.
* Proven experience in data analysis and research under limited supervision.
* Excellent organisational and administrative skills with attention to detail.
* Superior computer programming or software development skills.
* Clear written and oral communication skills.
Desirable criteria
* Experience in clinical analytics.
* Experience with biostatistics or biomedical data science consulting.
* Comprehensive experience with common online bioinformatics software and databases (e.g., UniProt, GenBank, BLAST).
* Strong general IT skills, including familiarity with Linux/Unix environments and HPC servers.
