The Opportunity
BDA is looking for a Principal Structures / Mechanical Engineer to join the Office of Airworthiness team primarily supporting the E-7A Wedgetail platform. In this role your leadership and expertise will be utilised in the development, review, approval and certification of structural and mechanical artefacts in support of development and sustainment activities. As a member of the Office of Airworthiness, you will have the chance to engage with Boeing's broader certification and airworthiness community and opportunities to work across various Boeing programs, including the E-7A Wedgetail, P-8A Poseidon, CH-47 Chinook, F/A-18 Super Hornet and MQ-28 Ghost Bat.
This role can be undertaken in Adelaide, Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Williamtown or Amberley.
Responsibilities
- Provide engineering leadership for technical execution of 21J structural and mechanical activities for development and sustainment engineering including development, review and approval of design artefacts, repairs, technical safety and engineering in accordance with the approved BDA Engineering Management System.
- Collaborate across disciplines to achieve integrated solutions.
- Engage in customer interaction with opportunities to interact with stakeholders from the operator, contractors, DASA and aircraft OEM.
- Champion improvements in structural methods, standards, and tools, enhancing efficiency and technical excellence.
- Mentor and guide teams of engineers, fostering growth in technical expertise and engineering judgment.
About You / Qualifications
- Tertiary qualification in Mechanical, Structural or Aerospace Engineering with experience in airworthiness/certification and design of aircraft and their components/systems.
- Experience developing structural and mechanical modifications to primary structure, internal payloads, component qualification is highly regarded.
- Experience working within a civil or military design organisation (21J design organization or ODA).
- Capability to gain Engineering Designations on relevant platforms.
- Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ) or eligible to obtain.
