The O&M Business Developer is responsible for securing new utility-scale service contracts to expand the company's portfolio. This role prioritizes organic growth and direct relationship building over firm acquisitions, focusing on high-margin service delivery in the Queensland (QLD) region and beyond.
Key Responsibilities
* Target Acquisition: Lead the business development efforts to secure O&M contracts from third-party owners.
* Priority Regional Focus: Concentrate development efforts in Queensland (QLD) as the primary growth market.
* Lead Generation: Target and engage with specific high-value asset owners, including groups such as Foresight (Oakey), APA Group (Darling Downs), Neoen (Western Downs), and Vena Energy (Wandoan South).
* Service Diversification: Promote auxiliary services, including offering power trading services to third parties.
* Profitability Accountability: Manage business development activities to ensure a target net margin.
* In-House Due Diligence: Perform rigorous in-house due diligence on potential projects to assess technical and commercial viability.
* Contractual Safeguards: Define and negotiate project availability rates within contracts to mitigate the risk of penalties.
* Business Separation: Ensure clear operational boundaries between O&M services and asset management functions.
3. Operational Integration
* In-House Strategy: Align with the company mandate of using only in-house teams for site management, with no outsourcing of core O&M functions.
* Platform Development: Support the implementation and definition of O&M software and monitoring platforms.
* Staffing Coordination: Assist in defining recruitment needs for specialized roles, including electricians, asset managers, and certified personnel to support new contracts.
Qualifications
* Experience: Proven experience in business development or contract management within the Australian utility-scale renewable energy sector.
* Technical Knowledge: Understanding of solar farm and BESS operational requirements, availability guarantees, and NEM power trading.
* Network: Established relationships with major Australian renewable energy developers and institutional investors.
