Administration Officer - Legal
The Tasmanian Aboriginal Legal Service (TALS) is seeking an Administration Officer to support the Criminal Law team in its Launceston office.
TALS provides culturally appropriate legal advice, support, and court representation in criminal, civil, and family law matters for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people living in Tasmania.
The role
The Administration Officer will provide administrative support to lawyers within the Criminal Law team in Launceston. Key duties include preparing correspondence and legal documents, managing client files, responding to telephone enquiries, and providing a professional and welcoming first point of contact for clients.
What we are looking for
· A minimum of 2-years's experience working in an administrative capacity in a professional services organisation. Experience working in the legal field will be looked at favourably.
· Advanced skills in the use of MS Office, and the capacity to quickly acquire competency in the use of TALS systems.
· A professional and courteous manner, and the ability to communicate effectively and with empathy with a broad range of people.
· Sound organisational and time management skills.
· An understanding of the social issues faced by members of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, and a deep appreciation and respect of their cultural needs.

Requirements
The successful applicant will be required to undergo a National Police Check and hold, or be eligible to obtain, registration to work with vulnerable people. Applicants must also have the right to work in Australia.
