The Team
Physiotherapy Services provides acute, sub-acute and community physiotherapy services to patients within the THS-South. This position sits within the Physiotherapy Medical Services Team which is the largest of the six teams in the service.
Overview
In the role of Senior Physiotherapist – Oncology you will work with other oncology physiotherapists to provide evidence-based physiotherapy services to cancer patients in an inpatient, outpatient, multidisciplinary clinic and community exercise group setting. The Oncology Physiotherapy Service was established in 2021. It is active in research and well supported by the multidisciplinary Cancer and Blood Services Team.
The Senior Physiotherapist - Oncology position is based at the Royal Hobart Hospital (RHH) and involves work on site and at outlying Community Health Services.
The Role
We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Senior Physiotherapist to work in the area of oncology in the Physiotherapy Medical Services Team to coordinate and provide physiotherapy services to cancer patients in the Inpatient Oncology ward at the RHH, and to outpatients at the RHH and other Community Health Centres.
Responsibilities
* Provide high quality, evidence driven physiotherapy oncology care collaboratively with the patient/client and carer, and other members of the multidisciplinary team as relevant.
* Assist in the coordination of services and service development across Physiotherapy and Cancer Services.
* Provide clinical expertise and professional education to Physiotherapy, Allied Health, Medical and Nursing teams, and external agencies.
* Promote a learning culture supporting leadership and clinical supervision to junior physiotherapists, allied health assistants and undergraduate students working in the Medical Services Team.
Qualifications
* Significant general and specific physiotherapist experience relevant to the identified clinical area/unit in conjunction with sound knowledge of relevant contemporary physiotherapy practice including assessment, intervention techniques, literature, resources, and equipment.
* Proven commitment to ongoing professional development and ability to supervise and educate other health professionals, undergraduate students and support workers and a continuing contribution to knowledge in the identified clinical area/unit.
* Demonstrated excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a complex multidisciplinary environment.

Details of appointment
The successful applicant will be appointed to a permanent part-time day worker position working 45.6 hours per fortnight and, in addition, will take on a fixed-term part-time appointment working 30.4 hours per fortnight until 4 November 2026.
This means you'll work full‑time hours until 4 November 2026, after which you'll continue in the permanent part‑time role.

Salary
$110,425 to $121,907 per annum pro rata. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.
* Salary range is in accordance with Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement No. 2 of 2022.

You'll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.
Allowances
* Access to salaries beyond $119,290 is subject to qualifications and/or application to the personal upgrade scheme.

* Registered with the Physiotherapy Board of Australia.
