Our client is a global leader in manufacturing solutions across sectors including power generation, oil and gas, wastewater, metals, mining, infrastructure and transport. Due to growth we are seeking a Project Engineer (Electrical and Instrumentation) to join their team and support the mining division.

Job Responsibilities

* Providing projects and tenders with electrical engineering design and project management services to required technical and quality standards, ensuring deadlines and budgets are achieved.
* Design of electrical, control and instrumentation solutions according to client specifications, statutory requirements and company quality standards.
* Support tendering of mine turnkey proposals by interpreting specifications, providing preliminary designs and assisting in costing.

Please note, this role will require you to travel (up to 30%) nationally across mine sites.

The role: Project coordination

* Carry out assigned work in compliance with company guidelines, appropriate standards and regulations, budget, schedule, scope and clients specifications.
* Liaise and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to manage related technical, budget and schedule details.
* Procure project related equipment and services, carry out inspections and ensure compliance with specifications and relevant standards.
* Plan, coordinate and review the construction and installation phase.
* Maintain quality levels throughout the work with particular reference to Quality Plans and ITP and associated documentation.
* Maintain project files with current and relevant information.

The role: Design and engineering

* Carry out electrical system design and maintain control over the design solutions carried out by external service providers and suppliers.
* Ensure electrical system design takes into consideration all interfaces with other disciplines - mechanical and civil.
* Ensure design solution compliance with project's technical offer, client's specification, relevant standards and regulations, budget and schedule.
* Ensure that work scope changes are identified, submitted to client and approved internally and by the client.
* Generate relevant technical project documentation (Request for quotations (SOW) technical schedules, drawings, datasheets, operating and training manuals, functional specifications, etc.).
* Produce and review ITPs, perform and witness equipment testing as required for internal quality control and project's FAT and SAT.
* Conduct EC&I installation work inspection and commissioning tasks.
* Develop P&ID, electrical and instrumentation cable and instrument schedules, loop drawings, I/O lists, etc. to ensure that the design complies with client specifications and relevant standards.

Essential Qualifications

* Qualification in Electrical Engineering.
* Strong working knowledge of relevant Australian Standards including the ones related to mines and Health Regulation.
* Experience in design and/or maintenance of electrical installations in mining.
* Solid understanding of MV and LV protection.
* Experience in design and/or maintenance of MV and LV switchgear and VVVF drives.
* Understanding of earthing and lightning protection systems.
* Ability to use AutoCAD Electrical for drawing update or design work.
* Knowledge of Electrical Control and Instrumentation (EC&I) systems.
* Solid experience in designing and drafting wiring diagrams of PLC based control panels.
* Ability to define scope of electrical work/product.
* Ability to write functional specifications.
* Ability to develop commissioning/testing procedures.
* Good communication and interpersonal skills.
* Minimum 7 years of relevant experience.
* Ability to work independently.

Desirable Qualifications

* Turnkey project management experience.
* Strong working knowledge of relevant Australian Standards related to underground mines, NSW Coal Mines Health and Safety CMHS Act, CMHS Regulations and Queensland Coal Mining Safety.
* Experience with prefabricated switchrooms and associated equipment (Air conditioning, fire detection and fire suppression systems, lighting etc.).
* Ability to use ePlan for drawing update or design work.
* Experience in development of PLC (Programmable Logic Controllers) program and HMI/SCADA functional screen.
* NER or CPEng & RPEQ.
* Experience in calculation and selection of outdoor lighting equipment.
* Electrical design in Hazardous area, especially on Coal mines.
* Experience working with ventilation system equipment.
