The business has operated for more than 30 years and supports customers through a national footprint that includes Western Australia, South Australia, New South Wales, Victoria and Queensland. Its product range covers project and commercial applications such as street lights, flood lights, high bays, panel lights, bollards and solar solutions. The business employs about 13 people, including front-line sales staff across several states. South Australia is an established market, and the next stage of growth includes further expansion nationally. For the right person, this creates an opportunity to join a business with existing market presence, established accounts, support from interstate colleagues and room to contribute to the next phase of growth. About the opportunity This is a field-based Business Development Manager role covering South Australia and the Northern Territory. Based from a home office, you will manage existing wholesaler relationships, build contractor engagement and identify project opportunities across your territory. In a dynamic role like this, the opportunity is not only to maintain momentum, but to build your standing in the market over the next three to five years as the territory continues to develop. In this role, you will: Maintain and grow relationships with project wholesalers across South Australia Complete a minimum of five wholesaler visits per day Complete at least five contractor visits per week Identify project opportunities through audits, prospecting and branch engagement Travel to the Northern Territory one to two times per year to build market presence You will spend Mondays in weekly catch-ups and project follow-up, with the balance of the week focused on client visits, contractor meetings and pipeline development. Support from the WA office is available for quotes and project work while you are on the road, helping you stay active in front of customers and convert opportunities. About you You are a hunter and relationship-led sales professional with experience in lighting, electrical wholesale or a related technical product environment. You know how to manage a territory, keep activity levels high and turn site conversations into commercial outcomes. You are comfortable working autonomously, building rapport with branch teams, contractors and decision-makers, and balancing account growth with new business development. To be successful in this role, you will ideally have: Experience in business development or account management within lighting, electrical wholesale or a related sector Project lighting experience, including identifying opportunities and conducting lighting audits A track record of growing sales across existing accounts and winning new business Experience managing a regional territory from a home office Strong relationship management skills with wholesalers, contractors and branch stakeholders A valid driver's licence Working rights aligned with long-term employment in Australia Willingness to travel across South Australia and periodically to the Northern Territory Experience working against similar KPOs will be well regarded, particularly where you have managed frequent face-to-face visits, increased share of wallet within branch networks and built contractor pipelines. A police clearance may be requested where role requirements make this relevant. What's on offer This role offers the chance to step into an established territory with existing accounts, a planned handover and direct exposure to a market where relationships matter. You will work from home when not visiting clients, with travel expenses covered for Northern Territory trips and annual travel to Perth for team connection and business updates. Initial training in Perth and a month-long handover with the outgoing BDM are designed to shorten the ramp-up period and help you build continuity with current customers. From a career perspective, this is an opportunity to join a business with national reach, a stable team and a clear growth agenda. You will have autonomy in your territory, support from internal teams when project quotes are needed, and the ability to influence results through both account development and new business activity. For someone with lighting experience who enjoys a market-facing role, this position offers continuity, ownership and the chance to build long-term value in a relationship-driven patch.
