Yamatji Southern Regional Corporation – Geraldton WA
Reporting to the Manager Ranger Services, the Junior Ranger Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the on-ground activities of YSRC's Junior Rangers, liaising with the program's managers at partnering schools, and onboarding Traditional Owners through YSRC's established cultural consultation pathways. The successful candidate will also be expected to help ensure that the Manager Ranger Services is able to consistently manage the program's risks and fulfil its reporting obligations.
The role will necessarily support capacity-building endeavors, including coordination between the existing Yamatji Land and Sea Rangers, contracted trainers/educators, partnering schools, community stakeholders, and funding bodies, and will contribute to the further development of culturally appropriate experiences for integration into the curriculum as the program progresses.
This is a full-time, fixed-term position for an initial period of two (2) years, funded through time-limited external grant funding and subject to ongoing funding availability, with potential extension.
Key Accountabilities
* Coordinate the day-to-day delivery of the Junior Ranger Program in-line with business expectations and reporting requirements.
* Develop and maintain program schedules, training calendars, participant attendance records, and student activity plans.
* Support the development, integration, and planning of further culturally led activities aligned with operational field programs and seasonal priorities over the course of the program.
* Liaise with external trainers, education partners, and community stakeholders.
* Maintain accurate participant records that include program enrolments, attendance, competency progression, and completion outcomes.
* Support cultural engagement activities and ensure Traditional Owner involvement is embedded within the program's delivery.
* Assist with the preparation of grant progress reports, the collation of milestone achievement evidence, and acquittal documentation.
* Monitor participant wellbeing and escalate any behavioural, safety, or welfare issues in accordance with YSRC policies.
* Support workplace health and safety compliance for Junior Ranger activities (including risk assessments and activity planning).
* Contribute to the continuous improvement of the Junior Ranger Program through feedback collection and evaluation activities.
This role is based in Geraldton, Western Australia. It involves office-based coordination and regular participation in on-country activities and community-based program delivery. Travel and flexible working hours may be required to support some field activities, school engagements, and community events. The successful candidate will be expected to model professional leadership, transparent accountability, collaborative behaviour, and interpersonal respect across multidisciplinary teams.
