About the Role
As a Lawyer within Djirra's Legal Service you will provide high‐quality legal advice, representation and advocacy across family violence, child protection, family law and victims of crime.
Working within a culturally safe, trauma-informed model, you will support clients with complex needs while collaborating closely with Paralegal Support Workers and a multidisciplinary team. You will also contribute to community outreach, legal education and broader service delivery, playing a key role in improving access to justice for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

Key Responsibilities
* Provide legal advice, casework and court representation in family violence, child protection, family law and related matters
* Deliver culturally safe, trauma-informed legal services to Aboriginal clients
* Work collaboratively with Paralegal Support Workers to support clients with complex needs
* Build and maintain strong relationships with community, legal and government stakeholders
* Contribute to community legal education, outreach and early intervention programs
* Maintain accurate file management, reporting and compliance with service standards
What You'll Bring Essential
* Eligible to hold a practising certificate in Victoria
* A degree in Law
* Demonstrated experience or strong interest in family violence or related areas of law
* Strong communication skills and ability to engage with vulnerable clients
* Ability to manage competing priorities and work both independently and within a team
* Understanding of trauma-informed practice
Desirable
* Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities
* Experience in family law, child protection or community legal settings
* Exposure to community legal education or outreach work
All successful applicants must be eligible to hold a practicing certificate in Victoria, have a degree in law and will be required to undergo reference checks, identity verification, Working with Children Check and National Police check.
