About the role

We have an opportunity for a Systems Administrator to be part of our Hosting Platform, Technology and Communications Services Command. The Systems Administrator supports service delivery to the organisation in the management of IT computer systems.


Key Responsibilities

* Manage, monitor and enhance the performance of Linux RedHat based applications
* Plan and implement new physical and virtualised systems
* Upgrade, patch and refresh programs using Satellite
* Configure and utilise automation tools such as Ansible Playbooks and Automation Platform
* Provide systems and scripting support to application development and operational groups
* Candidate will work with ITIL best practice, have good and up to date knowledge of RHEL v8+, container orchestration skills, an understanding of networks, firewalls and certificates
* Participate in team rotation of oncall roster
* Security: Ensuring compliance with security policies within environment, protecting sensitive data and systems


Preferred Skills and Experience

* 3+ years intensive hands‑on (preferred RedHat), understanding of Selinux, LVM, sudo, LDAP and so on
* Monitoring and Observability: Experience with monitoring and observability tools like Solarwind, Nagio
* Networking: Understanding of services, routes, SSL certificates, firewalls
* Scripting and Automation: Proficiency in scripting languages like Ansible, Bash for automating tasks and managing infrastructure
* Problem‑Solving Skills: Ability to troubleshoot complex issues within RHEL VMs and find effective solutions
* Communication and Collaboration: Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross‑functional teams


Desirable skills and Certs

* Kubernetes or OpenShift: experience managing Kubernetes or OpenShift in production environments
