Orchard Worker Job Description
The primary role of an Orchard Worker involves planting and cultivating fruit using hand tools and farm machinery. Key responsibilities include operating machines for fertilizing, spraying, and harvesting fruit.
This position also requires the ability to spray trees and other plants with chemicals to control weeds, insects, fungus growth, and diseases.
Additionally, successful applicants will be responsible for tasks such as thinning, weeding, and hoeing row crops, pruning trees, and irrigating land for crop growth.
Fruit selection, picking according to size and ripeness, grading, sorting, and packing produce into containers are also essential duties.
Loading filled fruit containers onto trucks is another critical aspect of this job.
Prior experience in a similar role is preferred, along with flexibility regarding early starts or late finishes, and availability for weekend work.
Effective communication and teamwork skills are necessary for success in this position.
A valid driver's license and work authorization for Australia are required.
